As if the cold weather wasn’t enough on the weekend, Johnny had a problem with his coolroom last night – it meant that all the lovely English spinach that he’s grown and picked for us (yesterday), froze solid overnight! That means that its all dead and will effectively turn to mush when it thaws. It’s so sad, given all that work, but we have had to find greens for the box elsewhere this week. Rita came to the rescue and is my personal hero of the day. She’s making a second trip out to us (having already delivered to us this morning) to drop off an assortment of silver beet and Asian greens. This means that the boxes will have fresh crisp greens in them. I’m so sorry that you couldn’t experience Johnny’s spinach, and even more sorry for Johnny, who has worked so hard to grow it. He says he’ll be getting the coolroom fixed so hopefully we wont see this happen again.
