Maaike, Marrickville, The Bower

I started my local living adventure when I became the General manager of The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre. We’re dedicated to restoring, reclaiming and resurrecting furniture and household goods, keeping it out of landfill.
I’ve always wanted to eat locally, grow my own vegies and make my own jams, but in the end all my spare time is devoted to furniture resurrection, so I’m ecstatic to be part of Food Connect.
I love knowing that someone has already done the hard yards in researching and purchasing sustainable and ethical foods, and also that FoodConnect support and inspire farmers at the other end of the food chain to go chemical free.
Each week I get a box that challenges and inspires me to make time to cook fresh, healthy meals. It’s like a masterchef mystery box, and has gotten me out of a boring rote menu. And finally I’m excited that our Marrickville subscribers are already swapping recipes and ideas after hours!
