Food Connect Sydney is not yet another organic box delivery service. Choosing Food Connect means supporting local sustainable farmers and knowing you are eating only what is local and what is in season. In practice this means:

  • No boring routines — each mixed box will extend your cooking skills. Dust off your recipe books and impress your family and friends.
  • No chemicals — so you may see spots and grubs, we call this Real Food.
  • No out of season produce — only local in-seasonal produce.
  • No more huge food miles — average food miles is 150km!!!
  • No anonymous food — get to know who is growing your food and how

To help you plan your shopping and meals, we tell you what will be in the box the Friday before delivery. But to give you a sense of how the boxes change through the year:

Summer: Everything is in full swing and you’ll get lots of fruit and vegetables. Look out for some of the tastiest fruit around Christmas time. The biggest challenge at this time of year is the heat and so the leafy greens can take a hit on and off the field.

Autumn: Bumper crops and with the heat reduced everything is looking and tasting great.

Winter: As the weather cools, the boxes will be full of hearty staples to make delicious stews, soups and roasts. Leafy greens are at their best once the frost is past. This is the season for sweet citrus and crisp apples.

Spring: Surprising to many this is the hardest time of year for farmers as the ground is still cold but crops put in before winter have all finished. The boxes will be leaner in variety from week to week, but will be full of many of your winter favourites. This is the time when you really invest in seasonal eating as your taste buds get ready for summer crops. But don’t feel guilty if you just can’t wait and top up from the markets!
